Characters & iconography of Film Noir

Characters: Archetypical characters include: Heroes (or anti heroes), hard boiled detectives, corrupt policemen, gangsters, the "lone wolf", killers, crooks, politicians, jealous husbands, and of course the most famous character type:
Femme Fatale: According to Wikipedia, femme fatale is a mysterious and seductive woman whose charms ensnare her lovers in bonds of irresistible desire, often leading them into compromising, dangerous, and deadly situations. A famous example of this would be the character Ellen Brent Harland, portrayed by Gene Tierney, in the 1945 film Leave Her to Heaven.

Iconography of Film Noir: Guns, cigarettes, smoke, alcohol, neon lighting, trilby's, cars, police iconography.

One way I could try to subvert the genre is to have a film which doesn't include the femme fatale character, which would be a rarity to the genre. Disregard the fact that I couldn't get someone to act out the potential part if I tried, and lets call it originality!
